Take Note! Recent Updates

From Our President, Jill Foster      THE MUSETTE

Over 20 years ago, I walked into my first Salem OMTA district meeting.  While I had taught for a number of years, a mentor from Washington suggested this as the next step in strengthening my teaching.  I was looking for myself-continuing education and for my students-syllabus and festivals.  What I found was so much more.  There are life-long friendships that have resulted.  I have the resources needed to bounce ideas, music and “challenges” that arise in teaching.  There are many continuing education opportunities not only at the district level at our meetings, but at the state and national conferences.  My students and I have benefited greatly from the syllabus and festivals, and in doing so have increased their expertise in playing and understanding what they are playing.
The Salem OMTA District board would like to invite you to our meetings this year.  They have been thoughtfully planned and grants have been sought to pay for the great workshops that are offered.
[✔]  We also would like to invite you to our first meeting, Friday, September 7, 2018 at 10 am.It will be held at my home:  855 McKinley, Woodburn OR.Join us for the distribution of the year’s directory and brunch.
Please go to our District website: omta-salem.org for more information on workshops, syllabus and festival dates.  A big thank you to Georgene Distad for all her work on the website.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday, as well as the other workshops this year.  Thank you for bearing with me as I continue to learn how to be Salem’s president!
